HIKING ADVENTURE TRIP FAQ
What level of fitness do I need for the trip?
We can tailor-make your holiday to suit your walking fitness. Norway is famous for it’s rugged coastline and mountain peaks but don’t get put off by this as there are fantastic coastal walks and island exploring which are less demanding and just as scenic as the higher elevations. At the beginning of your week we discuss what you are looking forward to most i.e. wildlife, peaks, history and adjust your trip accordingly.
What equipment do I need?
We really recommend walking poles to reduce the strain on hips, knees and ankles and a good camera as the scenery is truly breathtaking. A small pair of binoculars is also well worth it. Norway’s weather is much like the Alps and the mountainous regions of the UK so if you are planning summit days you should be prepared for Alpine conditions. Please review our hiking adventure kit list.
What time of year are your walking holidays available?
We usually start the walking season in Norway in mid May when the wildlife is returning to the coastline and the snow is retreating from the mountain passes. The season ends in mid October but it can very much vary from year to year so if you wish to start outside of these dates please let us know and we can choose any date you wish.
Do you provide maps for the holiday?
We will provide maps for each area you wish to go walking in and as much local knowledge as we can muster! We also often provide a local guide who will make sure you get the most from your trip to Norway.
